I am not sure where to post this but...
« on: February 08, 2013, 07:07:33 pm »
I am wanting to find a chess piece tap handle for my kegerator. My preference would be a knight. So far all I have been able to find is the following:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/122448008/queen-chess-piece-beer-tap-walnut-chess?ref=sr_gallery_12&ga_includes[]=tags&ga_search_query=beer+tap+handles&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery

and

Does anybody know of any other sites where I might find odd custom tap handles?

You can always just make your own with one of those screw in inserts like this....http://morebeer.com/view_product/16297/102248/Dual-Threaded_Insert_for_Wooden_Taphandles

You're gonna need nearly 6" chess piece for a handle. That's kinda hard to come by- especially a specific piece like a knight.

on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Czechvar-Figural-Beer-Tap-Handle-Large-Castle-or-Rook-NIB-/370712170995?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56502ad1f3

It's almost a foot tall.  You could tighten it w/the brand facing the fridge if it's not your favorite beer (like it is mine!).

I used to play a lot of chess tournaments. Chess pieces and sets have always fascinated me and I have quite a collection of them. My kegerator sits right under a 13x16 photo I took of my favorite wooden set. A nice chess piece handle would just fit so well with the theme of sets and trophies I have in my mancave.

and if you can get the sizing and placement right it will look like you are reaching into the photo to grab the piece to pour a beer!

+1 on making it yourself.  Grab a piece of pine and get to carving!  That way it'll be the size you want and you'll have a conversation starter in addition to your homebrew.  Get yourself a dremel and it should go fairly quickly if you're not much of a whittler.
