Austin Homebrew Gift Certificate Sale

I just saw that Austin Homebrew Supply has a sale on gift certificates (10% off GC's of $100 or more). If you do a lot of business with them, then this is a no-brainer to save some money. FYI - the fine print says it expires after a year, so don't buy more than you're sure you'd spend in a year.

Does it totally expire, or just the 10% part? Curious, because that would be illegal in WA - for any purchased coupon or gift certificate they always have to give you what you put into it. The discount can expire though.

It reads that the gift certificate expires in 1 year. Not sure what the Texas regs are, or how that applies in interstate commerce.

In Texas gift cards/certificates can expire but under federal law gift cards/certificates cannot expire sooner than five years from purchase, so there's that. It appears you pay $90 and get a $100 gift certificate up front. So if you don't exhaust the certificate before it expires you would lose whatever value is left. (Not commenting on your decisions should AHB allege expiration after a year but before five years.
Just more of the dishonest business practices there. They couldn't give me enough free product to spend a penny again.
