As far as I can tell, registration for Milwaukee is not working at all

I honestly think the AHA needs to suck it up and shut down the registration while they figure out a new plan.  Especially before they start taking money for the entries.  Otherwise we'll have hundreds of people wasting their entire afternoons trying to get their entries registered.

I agree.  They should hit reset on this process, get their stuff together, and try again.  This is really ridiculous.

Janis,
It's time to shut this thing down.  There are a lot of pissed off members that are stuck between a rock and a hard place.  On one hand they want to get their entries in so they can't give stop trying for fear that the competition will fill up.  On the other hand this is a colossal waste of time and is just pissing people off.

Shut down the registration, figure out a new plan, and open it back up when you're ready to handle the scale so it's fair for everyone.

Well NYC has been stuck on 123 of 750 for quite a while so maybe no one is getting entries in.  I have one in NYC and I'd hate for it to sell out when I have a few more to enter and can't enter another region.

Whoever wrote this software should be impaled with a mash paddle.  With modern hardware, if you can't get your site to handle a few hundred connections at once, you should find a new career.
Please do not reply if your an evil alien!

Not usually a complainer, but 45 minutes and one entry accepted? Going to name my next entry "503".

You did better then me. I have been trying for 50 minutes and only managed to register. Add an entry give me the message: "Service Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."

After being shut out of NHC because I did net get the alternate site via tweet, I am pretty disappointed.

The software is problematic. I run the UK National Homebrew Competition, have helped with the Irish National Homebrew Competition and we have similar problems with hosting on a server I own. Multiple registrations at the same time seem to shut the database down.

Beyond this, I have some beer to enter, I'm the other side of an ocean and I can't stay up all night.

And I note that NY now says 0 entries have been logged...

They really need a stand alone entry system that can take an XML loading of entries. How hard would it be to do this in Ruby and outsource the hosting as it is a short duration thing. Oh, and BOOO!

I am giving up trying to enter rather then get more and more PO'd.

I know they're running around like crazy now, but how about throwing us a bone?  If the service is down and no one is registering entries ( NYC stuck at 123 ), then let us know so we can stop hitting the servers.  Maybe have a temporary delay and reopen when they think it's ready to handle the traffic?

I gotta pee but don't want to leave the computer  ;D

I can get logged in and to my info page no problem.  When it's time to add, no go.  Software problem...  Funny the SPAM system telling me to save the date, asking me to renew early, etc works fine.

The forum is even slow too. I don't think this is a software problem. Not enough server power / bandwidth to deal with all the connections at once. If this is hosted they need to get more processors, and memory added quick.
