I'm more of a PowerSlave man, but it doesn't make as good of a beer name.

Black IPA I would say.

Murders in Rue Morgue love that song. After that anything off Number of the Beast or Powerslave.

Just cracked into a bottle of this. It's a nice English Pale Ale. Not super fruity, but the typical ESB ester profile is there. Malt is really bready. If I had to guess I'd say it's all MO with maybe some caramel color. Not really picking up any crystal malt character.

Hop bitterness is balanced. Aroma is typical grassy/floral/earthy UK hops and is again well balanced with the malt.  This must be a pretty fresh bottle, because the hops taste really fresh.

I really like this beer. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's a well-brewed, balanced English Ale. It's the kind of beer that has you looking forward to the next pint before the first one is done. I'd take Landlord or Fuller's ESB over this if I had to pick an everyday English Ale, but I will definitely be buying this again.

Pretty much sums up the bottles I've had. The hops were a little more assertive both in bitterness and flavor than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised by that. Like you said, it's nothing groundbreaking, but I'd put it on the top end of average.

It has been on draft at my local. The wife really likes it. The drawback for me is the import price.
