sweet orange peel

On the package it say to add at 15 minutes remaining in the boil. Is there any reason that I shouldn't just throw this in at flame out?

Also the plan is to use 1/2 oz for 5.5 gallon batch. Is that a good amount?

Dried peel? They're probably giving it time to rehydrate, but I bet it only needs a few minutes. Flame-out is fine assuming you don't drain the kettle immediately. I don't think 15 minutes hurts anything though. Citrus flavor seems pretty persistant in a boil.

I'd just add it at knockout. Fifteen minutes is going to boil off some of the oils you want for flavor. It will smell nice in the steam those last fifteen minutes but that's probably not your goal.

I ended up using it with 5 minutes remaining. My efficiency drop by 17 points compared to last batch...awesome

+1...you don't want to lose the volatile aromatic  oils.
