I am very impressed with Bridgeport's variety pack. Most include wheat beers and pilseners witch are two types of beer I don't personally enjoy. But Bridgeport put out one that is right on for me.

My beer of choice for brewing and buying is an IPA so two kinds in the variety pack was great to see, and it was nice to drink the other two to get out of my comfort zone.

I'm not a big fan of the variety packs. I prefer a mix-your-own-six pack if I'm trying new beer.

+1.  There are a couple of amazing liquor stores in the Indy Metro area that cater to very hard to get imports and craft beers.  A mix and match six pack from either works for my variety pack.  I will say that these stores have some Belgian variety packs that are awesome though. I've bought St Bernardus, Chimay, LaChouffe, and Affligem variety packs, all of which came with a glass. My beer glass collection is quickly getting out of control !
