By the way I test ph with strips. With six gallons on ten pounds of castle pils or two row it hits about 5.2-5.5. I'll be staying on that though. For now I have a tub of five star 5.2 just in case.

Thanks. Very interesting stuff. Basically it's just an immersion chiller plus whirlpool?  Not recirculation of cold water, right?

As fast as they claim it is I could get away with just one of those.

Nope, the cold water till goes through the chiller, but the wort is pumped back over the chiller.  Kinda like continuous stirring, only easier and better.  With my well water, I can (usually) go from boiling to under 60F in about 10-15 min.

and yes, no sparge is not a problem. It's actually my standard practice now. I don't mash in with the full volume because I like to do a mash out at the end but the end result is that my full volume is in the tun before I start running off. I get around 72% brewhouse efficiency.

Well if I'm getting a pump for whirlpool why not mash recirculation?

Certainly can if you like.   Personally, I see it as too much effort for too little payback.  Others may disagree.
