Frankly I don't view Europe as a great example of the free market. In any event I think people should brew with whatever ingredients they wish. My choice happens to be water barley hops and yeast.

You're absolutely right. They have a lot of regulations (eg dumping tariffs, appellations, etc.) to protect small and local businesses, which is why their self-employed and small business rates are a lot higher than ours.
