I'm sure others probably do something similar, but I thought I would share how I organize my boil additions:

Just write the minutes on the lid with sharpie.

My LHBS sells their hops in clear canisters with white lids and that is what I use to do the same thing.  I have lids with FWH to 0 increments and measure out the hops and put them in.

Yeah I have some labeled S for sparge and M for mash to put salt additions in also. Definitely keeps me from having to think on brew day! That would be dangerous.

Ziplocks work.  If I'm actually preparing them in advance I might vacuum seal them, since I have to reseal the lb. bags anyway.

I have a pile of paint trimming containers.  They are labeled 1,2,3... so any additions (hops, Irish Moss, yeast nutrient or whatever) go in order.  That way I can check off each addition on the sheet as I go.  Keeps me on track most of the time.

I like the idea of lids though.  I don't know how many times I've knocked one of mine over.

I use these all the time, although I put a piece of masking tape on the lid and write on the masking tape, that way they can be re-used.

If I only have 2 or 3 additions I put the FWH in my kettle and the other one or two in bowls. Otherwise they go in ziploc bags with the name, quantity and time written on it (Nugget 0.18oz 60min, Citra 1oz flameout, etc). Those bowls are a nice idea, but if I have more than 3 additions I generally have so many that the bowls would get unwieldy.

Mise en place works very well, especially if one brews, as I often do, in a location separate from where the supplies and measuring equipment are kept.  The brew day itself should be relaxing and fun while following the script.  I do all my worrying and measuring in the weeks and days prior to brewing.  Between steps, I prefer to relax and chat with friends or clean up equipment and put it away.  Shortens up the brew day.

I use stainless steel cups that I wrote on the side with sharpie.  I really like the idea of lids though, because I've knocked over more than one salt addition.  I'm switching.

Me too! Plenty of time between additions to weigh them out and BeerSmith's brew day timer function keeps me on track
