Is there an adapter for this?
« on: June 02, 2013, 06:30:16 pm »
I purchased a Danby kegerator at Costco this weekend. It's setup for the bigger commercial kegs. I'd rather not cut off the connector it came with. Is there an adapter that will let me hook up to this?

A single piece, I don't think so. You could definitely rig something up but it would be more trouble than it's worth, IMHO. If you ever want to tap a Sanke it's easy to go the other way with one of these.

This will do it, though it still involves cutting.

It would replace the barb that you're holding in your hand. The outer wing nut in your picture would still thread on to the Sanke coupler, but instead of having tubing coming out the top, it would now terminate in a 1/4" FFL fitting. Instead of connecting the 1/4" MFL fitting on the tubing to a Cornelius-type disconnect, it would be connected to the Sanke coupler.

Like this.

Seriously, the commercial tailpiece is not the Mona Lisa, cut that crap off and install the 1/4" female flare, buy the tailpiece to flare adapter as directed, and then you can attach ANY type of adapter at any time ;-)

Also at the same time make sure that you are using the proper length of 3/16" ID thick-wall beverage line. Some setups come from the factory with incorrect line size and length and I have no idea why, but I keep seeing it on half the systems I'm asked to configure.

there is adapter that you can put on commercial Sankey D coupler and you could use the soda keg QDs.
Foxx equipment had them. There were about $25 for two of them.
Something like this:

Thanks for all of the suggestions. For now I got a couple of ball lock connectors with threaded part that hooks to hose. I'll probably go with one of these other solutions eventually. When I was getting connectors at LHBS today I saw they had new plastic 5 gallon kegs with sanke connection.
