how much DME to + to increase OG

OOps. So i didnt take my gravity readings like i should have.  i want 1.047 and i have 1.042. this is a 3 gal batch. so how much DME to add to increase to 1.047 i have already racked to my carboy.

DME has about 45 ppg.  Go from there.

Was this an extract batch with top off water? If so then you may not have gotten a good reading due to a poor mix of wort and water and if that's the case you can go with the recipe's OG.

You would add 1/3 lb. of DME.
