SS Bottles
« on: May 22, 2013, 07:35:35 am »
I know the stainless steel growlers are the big thing right now, but I think this may be pushing it a bit:

$50 a six pack plus shipping...just make sure you don't recycle them.

I didn't look at the price when I got the email from NB.  All I thought was, "Huh, kinda cool I guess...wait, why would I want those?"

Kinda cool looking, but $50 for a sixer of SS bottles?  At least it comes with a cardboard carrying container....

If it didn't come pre-printed with the "Brew Share Enjoy" logo you could put a label on it, fill it with some tasty beverage, and give it as novelty gift.

If somebody would sell blank aluminum bottle-cans. I think they'd do well. Similar purpose - you can bring them places that glass bottles aren't allowed - but at a much lower price. I suppose the liner might not last through multiple fillings and that's where stainless has an advantage. But it's an expensive advantage.

I would rather spend $50 on a 5 gallon bottle corny keg.

At first I thought "neat"! :)  Then I read $50!  I said "Whoa!" :(

Then I thought, what is the benefit to a ss bottle (at $9 per bottle) over a recycled glass bottle?  The glass bottle you can see if it is dirty, mine have been recycled (never bought new) for years, and were free (or $2 per with 12oz of free beer). ???

I own one SS growler in case I need for non-bottle (or stealth needed) locations.
You wouldn't believe the things I've seen...

You can get them for $34.25 @ Deep Wood Brew Products....and the bottles are bare (nothing printed on them).

Those could be good for shipping samples without the worry of breakage. Intriguing...but a little out of my budget of free...er... recycled.
