It is a Dayton gear reduction 46 rpm and I doubled its speed with chain sprockets. Slow speed makes no dust and crushes perfectly.  The chain and sprockets came from McMaster Carr. At that torque I knew the belt drive would have to be to big and I wanted it to fit into my cabinet.
I bought this at MI State University Surplus store for $15 and when I got back looked it up in Grainger catalog and it retails for $450 so I would say I got A SCREAMING DEAL!! Wired the plug and switch myself.

The motor I used is a Dayton 6K329 at WW Grainger. It sells for $583 but I paid $15 at surplus.  I think you could use this one from the Surplus Center http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=5-1099&catname=electric. But I am sure it does not have the torque that the one I bought has.
The sprockets and chain are from McMaster Carr 6264K1 stainless #25 chain and 2737T4 sprocket on mill and 2737T11 on the motor for around 100 RPM

Not a roto-tiller. It is a Gravely Brush hog. Just happened to be there. I do use my tiller to work the spent grains into my garden though!

If you are on a budget and are related to Red Green or McGuiver, a great, most times free mash/sparge water heater are used 40 gal electric hot water heaters - cut them in half and voila - a great heater (have to bend the element down near the bottom) with adjustable thermostat with the bottom half, chop the element off, flip the top upside down with a collapsible salad drainer for false bottom and you have ur sparge vessel. They are glass lined so no contact with steel tank. Have not tried it but am sure bottom would make a great boil pot as well as convex shape in bottom and thusly way more heating surface area as well as plain steel is much more heat conductive than stainless.

I have the exact same mash tun. What kind of efficiency are you getting? I am averaging in the low 60's batch sparging. I think I am losing wort left over in the bottom.
