A $35 dollar stationary bottle opener who's claim to fame is to not bend the caps? I particularly like this bit

Quote
Stout uniquely opens bottles by pressing on opposite edges of the cap, unlike common openers that bend the cap in the middle. Stout does not bend the bottle cap. At all. This results in an efficient popping of the cap, and none of your usual “wrenching” of the beer to bend the cap off. Home brewers -- you can reuse these caps on your next batch of beer.

Um, riiiiiight. Because those will really seal nicely...  :o

Can I trade in the dozen or so freebies that are rattling around in my junk drawer?

I did not like the way that they screwed one of these into that poor innocent tree... :(

Aesthetically pleasing design. However, does it really matter if the cap is not bent? I've taken a few bottles off at the neck with mine but they would have broken anyway.

Mine cost less than $10 and will out last me...

My best friend owns a machine shop and his son is an engineer. I'm gonna work with them to design one that barely opens the beer but bends the absolute sh!t out the cap and then see how the beer tastes.

Something ridiculously inefficient and requiring protective gear! ;D

If you really need something that doesn't bend the cap, screw a bolt into a piece of wood, use it to pry the cap off. Woo. Nearly free.

Ha! No kidding, we came home from NHC last year and realized we had 16 new bottle openers.   ::)

I guess what is innovative is a magnet to hold the cap. Still is just an opener.

I saw another one earlier which had a magnet to hold it to the fridge. Kinda had the same feeling about it.

Dogfish makes one of those. You have to pry the cap in at least three directions to get it off.

Here we've got a pretty darn good lager called Steamwhistle and all summer, every case comes with an opener inside.  They are good quality too and very nice.  Each year is different and it's become a real collectors item for some guys.  I must have 20 of them floating around the house.

While serving beer at GABF, I had a few cap collectors want me to open the bottles with their special opener so to not scratch or bend the cap....then to cap it off (pun intended)they didn't even want to taste the beer!

I should talk, but that is a weird hobby/fetish.
You wouldn't believe the things I've seen...
