Wicked Weed AHA Rally 1/17
« on: December 20, 2014, 07:07:28 PM »
Is anyone going to the Wicked Weed Rally in Asheville,  NC on 1/17?  Thinking about driving over from Raleigh area,  looking for hotel recommendations from folks familar with the area.  Maybe even directions for Saturday evening to a watering hole with lots of local taps.

We stayed at the Downtown Inn and Suites, which is walking distance to several pubs and breweries.  It's pretty inexpensive.  There are much newer, pricier places to stay downtown, but the rooms here are clean and comfortable.  Ask for a room facing the mountains, because the street-side rooms are really loud well into the night.

It can be pricey, but The Renaissance is right there and the majority of the breweries are walking distance.

As far as local taps I would suggest Barley's or upstairs at The Thirsty Monk. No one has a complete selection, but Mellow Mushroom tends to also do a good job with locals.
It's not a popularity contest, it's beer!
