My big Ol' 85 lb crazy mutt will be wearing a thunder shirt and dosed up on Xanax to get though the next few days!

He crawls into the bedroom closet and we'll be lucky if we see him until Friday, thunderstorms freak him out as well, I really feel for him over this holiday:(

+1 to firework safety (and hop safety)with dogs.  I'm a lifelong dog lover. I treat my 85 lb Lab/Pointer-cross like one of the children.

I'm a fan of less laws, like repealing the law that prohibits me from beating people who leave their windows up in the sun with a dog inside, or shooting bottle rocketes at a dog, or tossing firecrackers to a dog with a fetch instinct.

The list of repealed laws could go on like that all night

I love the pit-bull in the flyer!  My girlfriend adopted one from the shelter and she's terrified if days like the 4th and Halloween.  She will definitely be in the kennel with water (that she'll be too afraid to drink).

My old dog would bark at fire crackers.  Nothing ever seemed to scare him.

He would also attack if someone had a toy gun.  No idea where he learned that as he was still pretty young when I found him.

My brothers dog, on the other hand, would hide from everything.  And she was the bull dog.

I never thought about dogs running away on the 4th, but it makes sense and is a good tip.  Pet owners need to understand their pets and know how they will react.  Too many don't.

Those are all horrible things to do, and they would all make me mad. But I have been afraid since I read this last night. If I saw someone throw a firecracker and commanded a dog to fetch it, I would just get unhinged. Even the smallest of firecracker could kill or seriously hurt a dog if it was in its mouth.
