new brewer - pitching Muntons from extract kit
« on: July 14, 2013, 07:28:36 am »
I am new to homebrewing and I have done a couple of the true brew recipe kits. The directions from the kit say to sprinkle yeast into the wort, however the yeast package says to dissolve the yeast in 1/3 cup cooled boiled water leave 15 w/o stirring then mix well to suspend and add immediately to brew. Yeast package is Muntons active brewing yeast, 6grams. Any thoughts? Benefits?

Thanks  ???

You "can" do it either way.
I prefer following yeast manufacturer instructions

You can sprinkle and many do. However I've had better results following manufacturer rehydration instructions.

Either way has produced good results for me.  If you go the rehydration route stay as sanitary as possible.
