The Tumwater Washington brewery, home of Olympia beer. Is being allowed to brew beer again, only 90 some odd years short of the original ban.
I don't know if this is relevant to a lot of you out there. But it is a big victory for people in my area, who have been wondering what will become of the building.

Thanks for the info! I grew up in Montesano and visited the Oly brewery many times with my parents. I was sad when it closed and with the resurgence of craft brews, I was surprised that it sat vacant for so long. I understand that MillerCoors had a restriction that beer could not be brewed at the facility for 10 years after they left. One more reason to not be happy with big beer.

can't believe I missed this...
wow that's awesome! I went to THS and proposed to my wife at the lower falls just below the brewery some years later. Went on the brewery tour several times.
Wish I could make it back more often.
cheers--

Oh man, my grandfather drank olympia all the time when i was a kid, wasn't the slogan "Its the water" or something similar. We used to joke that the logo should be a bear standing infront of a river with his back to you with the brewery downstream.

"It's the water"
When I lived in Olympia they were making bottled water at that plant.

That was my dad's beer of choice in the 80s. Not sure if it was his flavor preference or because it was cheap.

Oly was my first beer. I learned to drive a tractor when I was about 7 and after bailing a 20 acre field dad felt I was man enough for one of my own. Slept like a baby that night

Yeah, I'm glad to hear it and will be watching for the beer. Pretty much anyone who grew up in Washington was initiated into drinking beer with either Olympia or Rainier.
