Great song writer that left his mark in music that will remain for ever!

A sad day! Love his Skynyrd and Allman songs.

My wife and I wore out my copy of Naturally(vinyl of course) when we were in college.  That was an amazing album in a time of generally amazing music.

Floatin` down that old river boy, all my worries far behind,
Floatin` down that old river boy, leave old memories way behind,
Yesterday is slowly fadin`,
All my life, I`ve been waitin`, for this time.

Floatin` down that old river boy, leaves me feelin` good inside,
Floatin` down that old river boy, tryin` to get to the other side,
Yesterday is slowly fadin`,
I been waitin`, now forever, for this ride.

See you on the other side JJ........

Anyone who sings a tune so sweet is passin by........

He was a fantastic musician himself. I like his versions of Cocaine and After Midnight better than I like Clapton's. In my opinion he was probably the most underrated professional musician out there. He had a style all his own. I did think it was really cool of Clapton to give Cale top billing on their album Road to Escondido.
