Session IPA and style guidlines
« on: August 25, 2013, 05:11:13 pm »

I brewed a session tropical IPA from Zymurgy (1.044 - Citra, galaxy and Amarillo).  What style category are folks entering their session IPAs.

Cheers

Can't imagine whose recipe that is. :)

I'd enter it as a speciality since you'll get dinged in either Pale or IPA.

Thanks for the recipe Drew.  First time using the San Diego yeast - great attenuation

It is a pretty spiffy yeast. How was the beer? :)

What would make it unsuitable for APA?

Not enough body, way too much hop character and bitterness.

The body is perfect for a session.   I get good aromas from the late charge (manual whirlpool for 10 minutes) but not much flavor - yet.  Its only been kegged for 2 days and I will continue to test  :)
