So guys I gotta ask, what sort of reaction would you have if someone said 'hey I'm having a pig roast, do you wanna come? There's gonna be a ton of beer too'?

Because while we've gotten some responses, most of the time people are kinda like, 'Oh, ok, that's interesting.'

Sometimes I wonder if it's just me, or if it's the country.

Maybe you're too close to Paris?

I drove 400 miles for a pig roast this past summer.  And I brought my own beer.

Must be the country you're in.

I tell ya Phil, I've seen some of the pictures you posted on here of a few events you've hosted.  If I got an invite to one of your events I don't think it would matter what you would make because I'm sure the food would be delicious and a great time would be had by everyone.

As others have mentioned above, I've traveled many a mile to attend pig roasts and the last three we have hosted there were no leftovers (I allow guests to take meat home if they like).

Phil...it just depends on how you were raised and the culture you come from. Personally for me, you wouldn't even get the question out of your mouth and I would be there, but that's coming from a guy who ranks beer &bbq at the top of the list of pastimes.

I think you'll impress your company...as I've seen the pics from past parties and the hospitality included. :)

Definitely a difference in the cultures I guess.  I've never hosted or been to a hog roast where people weren't dying to go. Usually they get overloaded with people, if anything.

Thanks guys, sometimes when you're a bit insulated (isolated?) culturally, it's nice to have some outside opinion.

My cultural insulation is deep dish pizza, sassages, and beer.  Go Bears!

Culturally, here in Hawaii, a pig roast is the peak of the pyramid.  Kalua pig no ka oi!

Homebrew is lagniappe.

Looks like my fears were unfounded, apparently a bunch of expats found out about the pig and now the guest list is close to 70. USA! USA! USA!

On a somewhat related topic, I wanted one more opinion if y'all don't mind: I have this pig, and it's butterflied/piggiflied, and I was thinking, I have all this sausage, would it be A. super gross or B. super awesome to put the sausage in the belly/chest cavity, post cook?

I say do it but only for half the cooking time. Then cook seperatly so you can get that great inside texture in the pig and nice crispy outside to the sausage.

We just finished our 21st annual pig roast this last weekend. We always stuff the cavity with chickens and sausages for the whole cook. They come out great. We have people that come specifically for the chicken. We carve everything before the party and don't serve from the pig so if your looking for the spectacle of carving to the plate you could always pull the sausages right before service.
