You're talking about switching the posts? Definitely, maybe, sometimes. You can convert pin to ball, but there are several manufacturers of kegs and some use different threads (at least for ball lock).

Craftsman (and probably some other manufacturers) makes a 7/8" and 11/16" ratcheting box wrench. Tom recommended it to me, and I will pass on the recommendation. Makes for one tool to wrench them all.

This is what I use.  Works great.
