Wells Bombardier clone
« on: September 25, 2013, 05:53:59 pm »
My first ever post..yay!
HELP! There is a Jamil Show podcast explaining how to clone the Wells Bombardier ale, but I was wondering if anyone might be able to post it here, in writing, with quantities and hopping schedules etc.  I have some of the key ingredients (Lyles Golden Syrup & Bedford British yeast) and the more common malts as well.

Anyone?

6 Gallon
OG – 1.050
FG – 1.011
19 SRM
31 IBU
Recipe assumes 70% efficiency

2.58kg British Pale Malt
710g British Crystal 55
680g Rice Syrup (maltose)
650g Lyles Golden Syrup
23g (9%) Challenger (60 min)
10g (5%) Fuggle (5 min)
WLP006 Bedford British Ale

Mash in at 126F – 40 minutes (protein rest)
Heat to 165F for 60 minutes
Mash out at 172F
Boil 60 minutes

Pitch at 63F and then rise to 68F to ferment.

One thing that they mentioned is that the Wells water is high in sulfates (300ppm).
