Depends on where you are and from where the wind is blowing. Rain water is generally considered too polluted for brewing w/o treating it first. But it's cool to see that there are breweries who got it to work for them.

Seems like they'd have all the salts (and smoke, grit, bird poopie, etc.) that they'd need

I looked into collecting rainwater for similar reasons, it turns out that alot of the asphalt shingles
used have anti-mold chemicals in there that can be very toxic in certain concentrations. I changed my
mind in trying it. But I have a small shed that just has a metal painted roof. That's where I'll make my
attempt.

I hope that they are making sure that their collection system does not add toxins...or they process it
to make sure it doesn't have any.

According to the piece on CNN they have a special filtration system so the water is very pure and safe. However, they have halted the water's use until a state inspector can be hired.

IMO it's about sustainability. Probably they are using it for dilution. WAG
