Keg art?
« on: January 24, 2014, 06:32:38 am »
Anyone paint, bedazzle, or otherwise decorate their kegs?
I don't but it occurred to me that it might be a good idea. It would make it easy to spot mine when it's mingling with others' kegs. Give them an identity in the kegerator: "milk stout's in the one painted like a cow." Annual events: camo for deer camp. Color-coding the posts. Team colors for tailgating. You get the idea.

As in corny kegs? I use moustache or peace sign duct tape around the top of the keg, at the seam weld. I picked this up from some friends in the Quad Cities.

It is helpful for when I take beer to a homebrew event. Not that anyone would, but no one is leaving with my kegs.

Good idea, but the farthest I've gone is colored ribbon tied around the handles. All our club kegs for NHC club night had bright green ribbon. They were very easy to spot in the crowd while everyone was straining to read the paper labels.

That's a great idea for NHC. I'll have to grab some obnoxious ribbon from Hobby Lobby come June for that same purpose.

I just put a piece of colored electrical tape on the handle next to the "gas in" post. Not really much decoration, but it makes it easy to see which post is which.

We have a big vinyl sticker maker at work. I printed up some bumper-sticker size stickers with my brewery logo. Slapped those on all my kegs, co2 & propane tanks I use in the garage brewery.

I also made some backup labels with Avery weatherproof mailing labels - just with club name, booth and phone numbers - in case the AHA label got torn off somehow. Apparently I like to be organized. Wouldn't know it looking at my office.

I do this, write on them with sharpie, and erase with rubbing alcohol.

Have not except for polishing mine. Something about a shiny keg...
