I think another thing that is important to point out is that our "Bombed" batches are almost always drinkable, and usually pretty decent. A lot of times they were just off of what we were attempting, or there was just something small wrong with it. Despite not following the "best practices" that we espouse, you aren't going to make undrinkable beer. I am sure my first batch was marginal at best, but it was my first batch, and it tasted amazing to me.

Leave it alone. Give it at least 2 weeks before you transfer it anywhere, and make sure the gravity readings are the same 3-5 days apart. I don't think you ever need to transfer it to the carboy.

Ok but when I put the hydrometer in the beer it read finish

what do you mean by it read finished? If you brewed this beer 2013-10-05 it is not done yet. even if it is done with the bulk of fermentation it will benefit from just a little more time on the yeast.

If the hydrometer reading says it is at where the recipe says it's supposed to be at that is great but you still want to wait another 3-5 days and take one more reading to be sure. Not only will this help you avoid having bottles explode in your closet soaking all your clothes with beer (and not in the fun way) but it will allow the yeast some time to clean up after itself a little.

Upload the pic to some website (Picasa, flickr, facebook).
copy the link to the picture (I usually right-click on the picture, and there will be something that says copy image link or copy image URL)

go to the forums and open a reply
Click the little mona lisa, and [ img] [/img] will appear.
put the image url between the img tags
preview to make sure it worked

I am confused by your hydrometer. Usually in brewing, we use either Specific Gravity (notated as 1.0xx) or Plato (notated as whole numbers).

Either way, the numbers should go down as it is fermenting, and should end at about 1.012 (SG) or 3 (Plato).

If you started at 5, and ended at 10, something is quite wrong.

Without pictures, I don't know if we can understand what you are reading with your hydrometer, so I don't know if we can help.

According to your original post, you brewed this one week ago. If that is the case, I would leave it at least another week before attempting to take any gravity readings. Even if it is done, it needs some time to mature.

Buy another bucket. It is better to have an extra bucket on hand (I have 3, and I don't ferment in buckets), and its much better to wait than to try and rush your beer.

wow dude, i can feel your nervous energy in your posts. slow down. relax. i've been where you are. you likely do not need (and IMO should not) transfer that beer to a secondary.

leave the lid on. don't look at it again for another week. this is going to be really hard, but just do it. one of the worst things you can do is bottle it early.

you aren't making much sense to me in your comments about gravity readings. but that actually doesn't really matter, believe it or not!

what recipe/kit/whatever did you use? do you know the temp of the wort when you pitched the yeast?
