White Globs in Secondary Fermentation
« on: October 16, 2013, 10:09:49 pm »
Hi all,

Trying to eek out a Pliny Clone. Did an all grain mash, fermented in primary for two weeks, then racked to secondary and dry hopped (first round). After a few days while globs began to appear floating in the top. It has since gotten worse. Not quite sure what to do. Is it ruined? Or salvageable?

Pictures are here http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9UvZeXUDzwM/Ul9iUFfRpFI/AAAAAAAAADU/eGZc57PA1H4/s1600/globs1.jpg and here http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fH9fXmBRy4I/Ul9iUBfuOnI/AAAAAAAAADY/L1XCeNu5UWE/s1600/globs2.jpg.

Many thanks,

can't be 100% sure but it looks like yeast floccing out to me. How does the beer smell/taste? likely it's fine.

Thanks morticaixavier (go Aggies!). Smells like good, a little fruity. Haven't tasted it yet.

I agree. That's just yeast collecting on top.  Looks like it's going well!
