we don't get many kids - 18 this year, 15 last year - but for the third year in a row I noted that not one said thank you.

I think I'll just leave the lights off next year.

It rained most of the time so our numbers were down this year.   Maybe 50-60 kids.  Most said thank you, and not too many older kids.

Now...what to do with all that extra candy... ;)

We all survived! Rained cats and dogs all night!Halloween happens to be my birthday so it's always a party with the house decorated and a neighborhood full of kids, 100's, not 1000's. Jello shots and homebrew/crafts for the adults and lots of candy for the kids. Our house is a neighborhood destination year in and out. Once things die down we head out to another neighbor's for pizza, beer and lots of homemade soups.

We get 1,000 kids.  It is insane.  It will be raining steadily throughout the evening so we'll see if that reduces turnout.
I thought 150 was too much!

None for the 13th year! There were trick or treaters in the Taphouse though.

We probably got around 30 kids this year.  We know most of them and their parents.  They are generally pretty polite, so it was a pleasant night, unusually warm and breezy.  Sat out on the front porch with my wife and some neighbors, passing out candy and drinking beer.

0 this year, well not counting the 4 that live here.  First time we haven't had any, usually 1 or 2 neighbour kids but we live in the country.

Rain was unreal, wind was worse so SWMBO got drenched walking the boys around the nearby village where we used to live.  I don't get home from work in time to take them and I feel really bad about it  ;)

Discovered a new candy (for me) this year - Nerds.  Damn things are addictive.

I don't see a lot of kids trolling through the neighborhood for candy. There is a church across from our neighborhood that does a big open event and the neighborhoods next to us have bigger houses so I assume all the kids from our neighborhood flow to one of those areas.

My kids will be out in full force walking the neighborhood. I'm tempted to have a keg at the front door to hand beer out to parents.
We live in a subdivision where everone knows me as "beerguy".  I pull the pick up to the end of the drive, drop the gate, immediate neighbors come over & we all hand out candy there, and have a keg in the back of the pick-up for "ahem" rehydration.

No, not acceptable.  I told my kids if I didn't hear them say thank you they would have to go back and knock again just for that.  They didn't forget.

Good dad!

+1

I walked about 2 miles with my little guys. Fun had by all. My grandson and his buddy collected about 10 lbs of candy each. It was a good night. :)
