What is your favorite style(s) to brew? Russian Imperial Stout
What style(s) will you never brew? Light beers
What was the first beer you ever brewed? How did it turn out? Christmas Ale. It turned out alright. Was even better with aging.
What is your favorite beer recipe? Punkin Porter from the Extreme Brewing Book
Describe your brew system. My brew system is a 6 gallon kettle that I use on the stove top. It would be nice to upgrade to a burner, but the stove works just fine for me. Primary is a 6 gallon bucket and I have several carboys to do longer secondary fermentations as well as all my fermentations. I bottle condition all of my brews, mostly because that is the system I have. But I also think that is in line with traditional brewing practices.
How frequently do you brew (times/month or /year)? I try to have at least one beer in the primary at all times.
What is your favorite malt? Why? Rye is my favorite malt. I love the bite Rye brings to a beer
What is your favorite hop? Why? I love the centennial hop.
What haven't we asked that you would really like to answer? I am inspired from the the Zmurgy article on sustainable homebrewing from the current issue.
If you could serve your homebrew to someone famous, who would it be and what would you give her/him? I would like to serve my homebrew to Brian Urlacher. I think he is a closet homebrewer. I would brew an imperial ipa, or what I termed the Aldenator, which is my version.
