Morebeer ultimate sparge arm
« on: November 20, 2013, 10:54:39 am »
I ordered this yesterday to go with my ToP RIMS system.  Who has this sparge arm?  Did I make a good purchase?  What should I know?  It sure looks like the perfect solution for me.  The blichmann autosparge just seems to many moving parts.

I don't have it but I have been drooling over it for awhile.  Got a chance to check one out at the NHC.  Have just been waiting for it to go up as a Deal of the Day lol.

I bought one a few months ago. It's very nice and sturdy.  It replaced my blichmann sparge arm.

I really like mine. It's easy to adjust, easy to clean and durable.  I think my favorite feature is the fact that there are no tiny openings to clog with milled grains.  At no point is flow restricted to less than about 1/2 and inch.

Awesome. I'm totally getting one but holding off until after the holidays as I made sure to mention to swmbo how much I wanted one while they were using it on Brew Dogs.

Well, FEDEX says it will be here today.  We're gonna brew with it tomorrow morning.  Looking forward to the new toy tool.

LOL, I'm sure you don't Denny, but for us mere mortals..........

JK, you are certainly right, it's not a need, it's a want.  And I probably shouldn't say this to you, but, we may well be going back to fly sparging.  It's tough to brew 1bbl big beers with a 30 gallon mash tun.  Possible, sure.  But fly sparging will make it easier.  (I'm just being pragmatic, LOL)

I'm kinda surprised you haven't already gone to fly sparging, Mic.  It IS the pragmatic thing to do in your case.  Batch sparging is an advantage pretty much reserved for home brewers.

I have one (won it in the HBT giveaway a couple months back), but haven't used it.

You guys have any pictures? I'm thinking about doing no-sparge for beers >1.050, fly sparging for beers over 1.075 and batch sparging for the middle ground beers. Should be easy enough to switch out the components on a Sabco, yeah?

I cannot take credit for the sparging idea, it came from a very nice high-ranking judge - but I'm totally stealing it.  8)

Well, we used the ultimate sparge arm Saturday morning.  Very cool tool.  Those guys at MoreBeer might just give Blichmann a run for his money.
