That's what I thought. Actually 69 is pretty good for a 100+ beer IMO. At least for single infusion+batch sparge technique.

Yeah......Maybe if you're using a blue mash-tun......   ;D

I set mine for 65% for big >1.090 beers as well although my DIPA is ususally around 72-75%.  I attribute that to the cane sugar addition.

What was your actual efficiency for your RIS?

I think it was 65%, but it may have been 63%.  I don't have acces to that information at the moment.

How long are you planning to let this one age?

Ron, I'm thinking that as long as you plan on aging this beer, the Hallertaus at the end will be lost and even your flavor additions may be quite subdued and over come by the roastiness over time.  That being said, I'll bet it turns out pretty good and we'll have to trade bottles or have a tasting with a few commercial examples next fall like our soon to be annual Oktoberfest contest. ;D

he ain't gonna have all that much roastiness with 3.77% to overcome anything  ::)

looks really good Ron, just looks more like an Imperial Porter than a RIS to me.

edit: I just noticed the 1.9% of chocolate.  still not enough dark kilned malts for my tastes, but thought I'd point that out before someone argues with me over it  ;D

Thanks.

I was happy to hit 1.100 on this one. Hitting triple digits was one of goals as well as keeping the IBU/GU ratio 1:1. This will be a good one to set the bar with as far as roastiness goes... at least my personal bar.
