It's not whiskey, but it is Suntory. I picked up some Sakura (Cherry Blossom) gin when I was in Japan last week. It makes for a delightful, delicate martini.

Spring here means getting some Zinnias started too!

Back to Whiskey. I opened an Uncle Nearest last night. Still trying to decide if I love it or not.

Edit:  Disregard, I found it: Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is currently being made in concert with a whiskey-maker in Nashville and will continue as such until the Nearest Green Distillery is complete. The new distillery will be in Shelbyville (TN horse country).

Yikes.. yeah I really like that whiskey but I wouldn't pay $60 for it.  I just picked up a second bottle of it. It's 24.95 here in Oregon.

Trying to love Rittenhouse Rye Bottled In Bond tonight, but just not able. Hopefully this will be one where the first impression is wrong, otherwise this will be used in a mixed drink.

Finished off the bottle of Old Ezra Extra Aged 7 Years Barrel Strength. Some days I loved it, some days I found it a bit boring. I think in the end it's a solid Bourbon at 117 proof which hides it's alcohol well. I would have loved it more if the price were slightly lower, but at $40 it wasn't that bad price wise.

Bringing this full circle to page one, I've got a bottle of JTS Brown Bonded.  It's nice.  Similar to Old Grandad Bonded.  This is a Heaven Hill product and its solid.  100 proof.  Not hot.  Not spicy.  Some vanilla. 

The buyer at my local Binny's recommended it as he's high on bonded whiskey and anything overproof.  It's a solid recommendation.

Also, I haven't tried the rittenhouse bonded, but the old overholt bonded is pretty good.
