No kidding?  With the Trappist stamp and all.

I know there are abbeys or monasteries that are brewing in the states (can't recall and not looking them up) but it's pretty wild to have a new Trappist brewery.

Hopefully, this is more than the monks giving in to commercial pressures.  It could dilute the "brand."

Well that's interesting!  First time I'm hearing about it too.  Will be curious as to how this turns out.

I remember hearing about this a couple years ago then it kind of dropped off the radar.

Looks like they are getting guidance from Chimay so that's a good sign

I wanted to be cynical about this after reading the headline, because Belgian (many of them Trappist) beers are some of my favorites on Earth.  But this looks pretty legit, down to meeting the requirements for the appellation/stamp, ie., % for charity, profit, etc..........  Wow.  I'm trying hard to think of something that could happen in the craft beer world that would have me a whole lot more excited. Hope it works and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, that the beer even holds a freaking candle to the other Trappists. If it does that would be amazing.

Good news. So it'll be a venture similar to Ommegangs'.

Very cool. They're only about an hour from my house, so a pilgrimage will have to be in order once they're up and running. Can't wait to check it out.
