Who Are You (please include a picture):  Michael Fry

Picture was from the Silent Disco at GABF 2013. Sporting my club shirt!
Home Town (City, State): Vail, AZ
Homebrew Club: Buffalo Brew Club
I've been a homebrewer since: 2009
Do you have a homebrewing disaster you'd like to share? I do.
My first batch. I skipped the step on ‘cool the wort prior to pitching the yeast’. I let it keep going through what I thought was fermentation. Bottled it and drank it. Perhaps the worst beer I’ve ever had…but I stuck with Homebrewing.

What is your favorite style(s) to brew? I like to be busy while brewing, so it’d have to be IPA or something where I’m dropping in hops or moving around. I’m sure as I get older I’ll hate it. But for now…that’s what I enjoy.
What style(s) will you never brew? None
What was the first beer you ever brewed?  How did it turn out? I guess read the homebrewing disaster story. That sums it up.
Have you ever had a homebrew mistake that turned out great? Not yet. But I do have a sour in the makings.
What is your favorite beer recipe? I’d have to say the Bell’s Two Hearted Clone would be my favorite. It’s simple, easy and tastes great!

Are you a BJCP Judge?  If so, what is your rank and how long have you been judging? I am ‘Recognized’ and awaiting my tasting results. I’ve been a judge for a year.
Do you have a good beer judging story you'd like to share with the rest of the homebrewing world? I do not.
Do you have a favorite homebrew trick or gadget that you've found to make your beer better/brewing easier, etc? I would have to say that it took about two years before I watched a video of a guy using a spray gun (with water) to keep his boil down. Simple and Genius!
Describe your brew system. I brew on the Blichmann Top Tier. I’m not a good DIY guy.
How frequently do you brew (times/month or /year)? I brew at least twice a month.
What is your favorite malt?  Why? I’d have to say, 2-Row…just the basics.
What is your favorite hop? Why? Centennial. I love the piney flavor.
Do you have a favorite or house yeast? What qualities do you like about that yeast? My house yeast is WLP-002. I like the British style yeast even in my IPAs.
Do you have a good homebrew club story you'd like to share? We have so many to talk about. Some of our best are the camp-outs!
What haven't we asked that you would really like to answer? I’m ‘attempting’ to run for a Governing seat on the AHA to help out.
If you could serve your homebrew to someone famous, who would it be and what would you give her/him? It’s not someone famous but I’d serve it to my Grandfather. I think he’d truly enjoy it…
How many medals have you won from homebrew competitions? One Gold for the AZ Cup. It was in the Robust Porter Category. I made an Bourbon Barrel Vanilla Porter.
Do you brew alone, with friends or with someone you live with? Usually alone or with other club members.
Are you an indoor or outdoor brewer? Outdoor. But I’d love to brew inside!
List some of the names you've given your beers. Which is your favorite? I’d have to say Panty Peelers’ was the best one…or at least funniest.
