Double Bastard clone
« on: January 03, 2014, 09:48:53 am »
Does anyone have a good Double Bastard clone all grain recipe? The interweb searching I have done hasn't revealed much reliable info.

I have gathered that it is 10 to 11% abv, probably has some special B, srm of about 14 (from looking at it) and probably uses Chinook or Centennial hops (maybe both).

Does anyone have more accurate info?

Thanks

The old can you brew it show on the brewing network tried to clone Arrogant Bastard a few times. The closest they ever came, I believe, was simply pale malt, Special B and Chinook. I haven't seen a recipe for the Double Bastard but I would assume it's just a scaled-up version of the same recipe. I would just use pale malt to hit your OG, Special B to hit your SRM and Chinook to maybe a hundred IBUs or so.

Here is the recipe brewed on CYBI on Brewing Network for regular Stone AB.  Everybody but Tasty pronounced it cloned. At worst you could scale it up to try and get in the ballpark  :

Ratebeer.com shows this beer has had a different alcohol % over the years. Makes me think they're constantly tweaking their own recipe.
2007 - 10%, 2008 & 2009 - 10.5%, 2010 - 11.2%, 2011 - 10.5%, 2012 - 11.2%
