Drew, I'm curious to see what you think of the Yeast Bay saison strains.

I am curious about your thoughts also.

I have a saison using Wallonian Farmhouse that I plan to bottle this weekend. Tasted good last week when I checked SG. Went from 1.055 to 1.005. Tasted good and looking forward to tasting it after it has been in the bottle.

I am going to do a 10 gallon batch of a simple Belgian blonde, split between WY3522 and WY3787.

San Diego Dark Session Ale

Cleaned the gutters during the mash.
Eating lunch now during the boil.
If I don't like this beer, I think I am going to give up on brewing milds.

My yearly batch of cider, early next week. I plan to split it in half and add sour cherries from our trees to one half and coconut to the other half.

I've had more misses than hits with milds for sure, but the hits have been wonderful so I keep trying. They are easy to get wrong. Hope it turns out for you!

18 lbs. Avangard pils
2 lbs. Weyerman wheat
0.75 lbs. melanoidin
0.5 lbs. biscuit

Mashed at 150°F for 60 min, 158°F for 15 min. Batch sparged

2 oz. Strisselspalt FWH
2 oz. Challenger 7.1% 75 min
3/8 oz. crushed coriander 10 min

Boil for 90 min.

I'm planning on an APA Sunday night.

Something like:

11 lbs. 2-row
6 oz Carahell
4 oz English medium crystal

Bitter with Columbus and Centennial; finish with Vic Secret; dry hop with Vic Secret and Eureka

Wyeast 1318

Tonight I hope to tap a keg of Belgian Pale, install new rollers on my mill, and test my new pump (if all goes well this APA will be my first brew with it).

Probably won't have a chance to brew til next week, but it'll be a comparison....10 lb. Loughran Family ale malt + 1 lb. of Sacchra 50 vs. 10 lb. of Rahr pale malt + 1 lb. Sacchra 50.

Have you tried the Sacchra 50 yet?  I have a few ounces from HBC I am interested in using at some point.

Doing an O-fest Sunday using Weyermann Barke malts (Vienna, Munich, and Pils) for the first time. Also using Brewtan B for the first time. So I'm excited on both counts. Will definitely report the results.

Yeah, it's gonna be tough to gauge flavor improvements with the Brewtan B on this beer because, from what I'm hearing, the Barke malts are just excellent. But I should definitely be able to gauge clarity and shelf life. After I do the German pils in a couple weeks I'm gonna brew my house APA which I've done many, many times. That one should be an even better test for the Brewtan. Sounds like Denny's early results are pretty favorable.

Yeah, and looking forward to hearing more on the back to back pils comparison. Good choice of beer to test out Brewtan on.
