Took me 3 weeks - I hope you get yours sooner. Seems like it's enough for around a dozen batches. If I get a really positive feel for it I'll order some more and hope for the best. Hopefully some U.S. retailers will get on board with selling smaller amounts for homebrewers soon though.

Doing an O-fest Sunday using Weyermann Barke malts (Vienna, Munich, and Pils) for the first time. Also using Brewtan B for the first time. So I'm excited on both counts. Will definitely report the results.

O-fest in the fermenter. The references to high extraction on Barke malts are no joke. I targeted 1.054 and ended up@ 1.058 (with volumes spot on). No worries. The flavor of the wort sample was absolutely stellar. Looking forward to this one. Also thrilled I finally bought the submersible pump (to use for a closed ice water loop after cooling to 85F ) - I cooled to 48F in 25 mins total. Pretty sweet.

I have used my pump the last few brews and enjoyed the speed as well. How much ice would you say you used to get down to 48?

This was your first Brewtan batch too right?

Last couple times I used 2 regular bags of ice. Today (being summer) I used one big bag but it seemed to be the right amount for a quick cool. Really liking it.

Currently my outdoor faucet water is coming out in the low 70's. I find that with my pump recirculating wort I can 6 gallons from boiling  down to 80 in less than 15 minutes. Another 15 minutes using the pump loop with 10 pounds of ice gets me to 50F

I got wiped out of my homebrew stock recently and have nothing in the pipeline right now. I'm have a few new noble-ish type hops to try out (Kazbek, Ariana and Callista), and I'm hoping to get a brewday in tomorrow. It's either going to be a Cream Ale or 100% Red X Saison using one of the new hops.

As old school as that is - in my mind it's a true classic.  I'm considering using the same hops and a similar grain bill for my next brew - to take on the fall coastal fishing trip.

Happy 4th of July to all.  Let freedom ring.

Yeah, looks good. I brew a lot of styles but I always come back to a good APA.

Just a simple yeast starter with WY 3724 getting ready for my next brew day on Wed. A 1.060 saison is begging to be brewed. Trying out some Hallertau Blanc blended with Czech Saaz for this one.

On Wed. we'll release Ep. 18 of the Experimental Brewing Podcast.  The experiment is about yeast stall using 3724 and how to avoid it.  Marshal did the same experiment and has already released his results.  Spoiler: His results are very different from everyone else who did the experiment!
