Tomorrow Morning (couldn't wait, bitter orange peel on order)

AG Batch #45, 4.5 gal

4 lbs Pilsner
4 lbs Vienna

FWH = 22 grams, 2020 Mt Hood-Dried Whole Leaf (4.7AA)

60 min Mash
30 min Aggressive Boil

Last 7 minutes
22 grams, dried Sweet Orange Peel
11 grams, Ginger Root was peeled, cut into match sticks, then weighed
1/4 + 1/8 teaspoon, Saigon Cinnamon

S-04 @ 60f
I'm really into this recipe. I'm more traditional on the boil duration part but potato, tomato looks delicious

Recipe was inspired by TxFlyGuy inquiring about Sam Adams Winter Lager.
I haven't used fancy ingredients in a long time.  Once lemon grass and lime
leaves were used, ended up with a Lemon Pledge beer :<.  Next batch going
to use bitter orange peel, which I think is more suited using with ginger. Dialed
in the amounts the best I could on information available, may need adjusting.

Brewed 3 gallons of APA today with Citra and Ekuanot.

Instead of using the Picobrew Z, I went old school batch sparge. It was great. I mashed with a bag lining my kettle on an induction burner. No pump. Just gravity. Clean up was so easy and done a long the way. Efficiency was off the charts compared to the Picobrew (80% vs 68%).

Kegging my latest batch of Imperial Stout that is currently sitting on Crown Royal soaked oak chips on New Year's Day.

I will then be brewing my Tripel sometime next week.

I plan to brew a Marzen this weekend with 838.  Next weekend I will be brewing a bitter/ESB with 1968.  Cheers and Happy New Year Beerheads.

Yesterday, I brewed my take on Left Hand Milk Stout. I have 4 oz of cacao nibs ready for it post fermentation. Just like clockwork, the pitch of Bry-97 showed signs of life at 14 hrs per the Tilt. I am hoping that the 158*F single infusion mash and lactose will keep the Bry from drying the beer out too much. We’ll see.

I brewed a 4 gallon batch of RIS yesterday. Kind of on the lower end of the spectrum at 1.082, but I’m shooting for more of an Old Rasputin ABV.

I plan to brew a Belgian Golden Strong this weekend.  It's part of a club project for a bourbon barrel.  I am looking forward to my share of the Imperial Stout that is currently in the barrel.

Last Sunday a friend and I brewed 12 gallons of a Baltic Porter.

Beautiful day. Started around 38-40* and by the time we finished it was 67*. Sunny with almost no wind.

Those are brew days I long for.

I am bottling 5 liters of RIS this evening from a cask and filling the cask with maple mead.

Going for an adjunct “imperial” pils. Sterling throughout the kettle and finished with motueka. Fermented with 189/3470 slurry
On Tap/Bottled: IPL, Adjunct Vienna, Golden Stout, Honey Lager
Fermenting: IPA
Up Next: mexi lager, Germerican pale ale

A Leicht Helles Bier on the Foundry system this afternoon - still chasing the unicorn, but nipping at its tail.  This one is a mix of Best Pils and Proximity (3.5 lbs each) with .5 lb CaraHell (10L) and .25 lb acid malt.  Lightly hopped with .5 oz Magnum FWH and Mittelfruh at 10'.  S-189 1st repitch.  Trying the Helles end of the Leicht bier spectrum after several fairly successful runs at the Pils end of the pool lately.

Nice! I will be crushing many pints of a very similar beer in a few months.

What’s your take on proximity pils? Just purchased a sack of it. Normally a continental pils guy.
