I'm going to move my Festbier to a keg today and then get everything ready for a brewday that could fall anywhere from this evening all the way through to Monday just based on what else is going on. Next up is a Red Lager. Pilsner, Vienna, Special B, some Carafa, all Tettnanger hops and this Omega German Lager 1. SRM of about 12, hopefully some red hues, etc. I have some unopened Tettnanger from YVH and I have not brewed with Tettnanger in a very long time so looking forward to this.

A day without beer is like... just kidding, I have no idea.

Brewing an Amber Ale today. My 165th all grain batch since AL made Homebrewing legal.

Just racked a pils and brewing 10 gallons of Helles Liecht tomorrow.  Water and grains are set for an early start to grind, mash in and 30 minute boil.  I’ve been doing that typically any more.  Mash runs 60-90, depending….rarely doing recircs any more - just a few good stirs.  Cheers fellas - enjoy your weekend!

Simple is good. I don’t recirc anymore either. I didn’t like cleaning the pump. Beers are still good.

I still recirculate. I like how the wort goes from cloudy to clear over time. Not sure it makes better beer or not but it makes me happy to xfer clear wort to the BK.

Happy is good, too!

Just put the wort from my first Saison into the fermenter with WYEAST farmhouse yeast.  Simple grain bill with local malt and homegrown hops.

Kegged 5 gallons of rye Saison today.  I put some poblanos and habaneros in the other half of the batch yesterday.  I am attempting to clarify and backsweeten my passion fruit melomel this weekend as well.

I did two saisons this weekend.

Both extract; both 6.5L; both BE-134.

The first was 1.030OG with just a small bittering charge of Chinook and then healthy dose of dandelion tea for the last 15 minutes.

The other was 1.035 and got one of the packets of Zamba that AHA gave out for renewing split over 5g @ 30 min; 10g @ 15 min; & 13g @ 5 min.

Tilt shows OG of 1.031.
I buy grain pre weighed and crushed, so I can just dump and mash.
Haven't bought from NB in a while, thought bag of grain was a little smaller than normal, didn't weight it.
When the bag (BIAB) was lowered into the mash water, I knew there was trouble
when I stirred the grain in, too much water for that grain.

Always mash with 10 quarts water, and 8.5 pounds grain, use to be 8.

Ensure you calibrate the TILT prior to use. When calibrated, the OG is usually pretty close in my brewery.

im dumping the remainder of that voss kveik beer with vienna along with a sparkling mead i made that didnt carbonate and is just sort of bland.

this is the first beer i've dumped in significant amounts in forever, but that voss kveik made beers with an annoying tartness i did not expect at all. i made an IPA as well with it that im finding enough about to enjoy in it, but it isnt perfect. i'll likely end up dumping its remnants later. all i can think about is how amazing a beer it would be with WLP007 or something.

I did, also put in a new battery.
I can get a reading in my living room.
Might toss in left over brown sugar
on drop, to boost ABV a bit.
Grain was short no doubt.
I think I know what happened, no hard feelings, probably honest mistake.
