I'd use BRY97.

Nearly Nirvana Pale Ale today. A little late re: Big Brew Day. Better late than never.

Boiling now. I can’t decide if I should pitch a Novalager slurry or Bry-97 packet. Novalager seems pretty close to me.
Better late than never!

Can you split the batch?

I used Nova Lager in a Lite Pils that turned out pretty good. It fermented fast but did take a little while to clear. It’s a beautiful lawnmower beer now.

OTOH: you can’t go wrong with a WCPA using Bry-97 IMO.

I can’t really do split batches. I went with Bry-97. I know it will be good. I decided not to take a chance.

I have brewed two batches with Novalager now.

Batch 1 was a Brooklyn Lager knock off. It is very good. But that is an amber lager (almost an ale) not really designed to test a lager strain.

Batch 2 was the Czech Lager recipe Ken posted here a week or so ago. I kegged that one today. It is certainly clean and the hops were tasty at this point. We’ll see how it comes out after aging.

Making an Imperial Stout tomorrow with one of my local club friends.  Our local club is doing a barrel aging project with this beer so we are making 60 gallons for the barrel to also take care of the angel's share.
This is a big beer 23 Plato (1.092) so I can't do 11 gallons at one time because my mash tun won't hold 40 lbs. of grain.  So we will be doing a double batch here.  It will be a long brew day but I am looking forward to it.

Brewing what I'm calling a "Golden Bitter" this evening. Pale Ale malt, a touch of C-20, and #2 invert. WLP002. Undecided on hops - maybe traditional English, maybe a small amount of something fruitier like Vic Secret. 1.050ish OG, 35-40IBU. A nice summer drinker.

I have a metric crap ton of yellow passion fruit from a vine in a tree in my side yard, so today I am brewing a passion fruit witbier.

I'm trying to burn through last year's hop harvest to make room in the freezer so I'm whipping up a hoppy blond ale with all my remaining cascade and mt. hood. Total throwback beer but I'm going to double dry hop and keg hop to give it a more modern feel and try to completely exhaust the harvest.

This is one of the few times as a New Englander when I become jealous of people who live in the south. I'd love to be able to grow my own citrus and tropical fruit. Passionfruit sells for $3 per fruit here, and the juices and concentrates I've tried are nothing like the real thing from fresh fruit.

Sounds like a delicious beer!

I hope it turns out well. It sure smelled great going into the fermenters.
I have been picking up about 20 pieces of fruit every day for over two weeks.
Our avocado tree looks pretty good as well and should be ready to pick in another month, but I doubt there's going to be a brew involved.
