One of the best beers I ever drank was at a rusty old gas station on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere after a strenuous 4 day, seasonably warm back packing trip in which water was scarce. I was hot, exhausted and thirsty. The beer was ice cold, and exquisite. It was Miller Genuine Draft. The first one went down like liquid sunshine. The second was almost as good.
First time I ever had Pliny it was at Russian River and I was being given a personal tour of the brewery with Vinny himself .... but that MDG .... I don't know if anything ever tasted quite that good.
OTOH there was an Erdinger HefeWeizen in Helen, GA on a sidewalk cafe after a 12 hour motorcycle trip.....
