Careful what you wish for

I have to go to a beer launch today. Obligated is the right word. It starts at noon. (I'm running late.)

But the last thing I feel like doing this afternoon is drinking beer. I know that sounds crazy but it's true.

Day drinking is only for the committed beer drinker. I can only do it every so often, and when I do, I'm useless for the rest of the day.

It's a marathon, not a 100m dash. Pace yourself and drink water in between. This is what helps me. Enjoy.

Doesn't sound crazy at all.  I feel like that a lot of times.  It's one of the reasons (along with my health) that I've all but stopped judging.

That's the problem. People want to meet the brewer not the delegate

I've never been a beer judge but I can only imagine that is a long day being forced to judge beers that, let's face it, some of which you really don't wish to drink. That really does sound like work. Hard work. At least I was faced to drink something I enjoyed. I just didn't feel like drinking beer yesterday afternoon.

I ended up cutting it short and went to watch my son's last two wrestling matches. Both ended in pins. :)

That's why I drink coffee at release parties.

I sometimes drink green tea when I am manning tasting room, but in this case I had to go to a release at a local pub in which we brewed them 2 proprietary beers (a 60/- and a Wee Heavy). I talked my way out of wearing the kilt but was expected to drink the beer (and, yes, I had to pay for them).

The pub (located in Hunstville and on the "top 100 USA" pub lists, believe it or not) has done a lot to help us over the years and this was kind of a way to return the favor. So I wasn't going to got here and drink water or coffee. That's bad business.
