I can envision a 6-pack can holder that resembles are smaller version of bottle holder but made from a clear material that lets the branding of the cans show thru. If the material was organic and water-soluble (obviously with a good long soak, not just being sprayed with water or beer) that would be an even bigger plus.

Obviously the advantages would be that there would be no printing, it's generic so you never have to adjust production leading to lower costs and reusable until you want to dispose of it.

Just brainstorming.

I have opted out for rings then Pack-tech binders.

Reasoning:
Pack-tech is from Oregon
Rings are from Illinois

Minimums:
Pack-tech one pallet or 13,000
Rings one roll of 1,000

Pack-tech is about 3 times as much as rings.

Yes I need to have ring applicator.

It's all in the technique, boys...

Looks like he got a bit of foam with that one.  ;)

Yeah, that technique gets tougher to pull off gracefully the fewer beers you have.

I appreciate the sturdiness of the Pack-tech but have also struggled to rip a beer free! Usually, I'll remove them all and stash the beer away to settle down after the violence.

The shrink-wrapped packs hold up very well. Noticed this with some imported cans from the Eurozone.

I am also in the middle of my transition from Homebrewer to Probrewer.  Our plan is to use the SAMS system that Cask makes.  The have a 6 pack ringer that you can buy for about $1000.  Also there is a brewery here that does the 6 pack box and it looks great lots of space for graphics.  Not sure what they cost but I am sure that it is more then the 25 cents for pactek holders

If you happen to remember, I'd be really interesting in hearing what you think of the SAMS once it's up and running.
