That's if he can remember who he is?  He took some many hits as a player...he must have had a dozen concussions back before they tested for them.

Being a Cubs fan, it'd be nice to talk a little trash occasionally. But they are the Cubs after all. Ok, returning to my yearly pit of baseball despair  :'(

That's low, man! That's the whole reason he retired.

Matheny was the leader of the charge to change the "charging the plate" rules. I'm glad he did.

+1, usually I wait until May to lose all hope.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

The only thing I am sure of is that the Mariners will not be a contender.  Their target seems to be a .499 season.  Deep sigh.

We need new ownership.

Here's some breaking news:

Hate him because he is a Yankee, but respect him as a player!

Just saw this. Glad I already bought my Sox/Yanks tickets yesterday. He's one of those guys you love to root against, but you can't deny what he's done, and done with class.

Go Sox!

I Need to get one of those shirts --  "I love two baseball teams:  The Red Sox and anyone who beats the Yankees"

Good success the past ten years but of course it had to be after I left the Boston area...

Baseball....meh.  I am a Phillies fan, and the Phillies are looking to have one of the oldest lineups in the major leagues this year.  :-[

Just saw on the news that Tony Gwynn passed away. What a terrible loss for baseball. Seems like he just retired.

What a sweet swing he had.

I remember him playing bit never knew the breadth of his accomplishments. Never more than 40 strike outs in a season for 20 seasons; ESPN says 3 players had more than 40 in April this year! More .300 seasons than Ty Conn and it just went on and on!

It's a real shame. He was one of my baseball heroes. One of the greatest swings and hitters of all time.
