Ditto. Sorry the Sabco didn't work out. I had a lot of fun brewing on it last weekend and plan to shake out a Helles this weekend. But yeah, it's a high maintenance baby!

No worries. I sold it for what I had in it (which was a steal, just passed the deal on to the next guy) and have traded that money for the Z and sundries. I do appreciate your moral support for the 'high maintenance baby'.  :)

I had a good time with the Sabco, and it certainly served it's purpose well, but it was time to move on. I've gotten involved with a lot more education efforts and party planning efforts with our homebrew club, so it's nice to have the time to do all of the beer related activities for the club/club members as well as the brewing activities that I want to do. Did I mention that clean up takes about 15 minutes and I can wash the bins in a dishwasher? Yeah, that's pretty neat.  8)

I'm still in the process of putting together all of the bits and pieces to go from a 10g brewery to a 2.5g brewery, but here's a quick pic of our new brewery, aka "the Z":

What's your brewing time like?  As you know, I'm considering one of these but want to do 5 gallons sometimes so I'm guessing I would run 2 batches, transfer to fermenter and be done.  Also, it would mostly be for the winter and crappy weather days...I still love my cooler and kettles.

About 4 hours +/- a little bit each way; with a dough in, step mash, mash out. Clean up is about 15(ish).

One thing I'll be trying out is going home for lunch, starting the process, watching it from my desk, and then getting home in time for chilling.

Cleaned up the garage and basement.

New garage setup:

Moved Jurgen, the True fridge, inside. This is now our main bottle storage.

Added some shelves. (Side story: these shelves are made from a walnut tree my dad cut down before he passed away. They are just urethaned and the live edge was left on them. Once I'm 'finished' with the bar, I need to do real pictures with the real camera.)

And our little bottling area:

I pretty much love every aspect of that. The taproom obviously, but the organization of your equipment is beautiful. Mine is fairly well organized, but there's a vehicle and kids random stuff all around the perimeter of it to wade through. Nice work.

Fantastic! I was going to say I am jealous but really it's just inspiration for the future. My bride has pre approved a brewery house for retirement. I'm thinking 24x32 with gambrel roof like an old barn. A place I can diddle around in my old man days.

I love it. Are all those pictures in the same space or is the brewery in the garage and the taproom in the basement.

We have a split level home. I think it's called a front/back split. Idk, I hate these types of houses but it's all that's available around here outside of huge 2 stories.

The sink/Z is in the garage, the bar area is in the "basement" which is on the same level as the garage. The beer storage area is in the "sub basement", which is a half level lower than the garage & bar towards the front of the house.

Looks a bit fancy for me. Where's the floor drain?

Oh, I know what you mean. they built a lot of those in the 60's I think around here and a few friends grew up in them. They seem like a pretty good design as long as your water table isn't high, which it can be here.
The good thing is you have a full size window rather than a little basement window.
