Through the wall taps. The round holes are for two 4" PVC runs that will head up to an insulated box that needs to be built.

Cool, can't wait to see the finished project.

Collar is on the freezer. 100' spool of beer line ordered.

Next steps:
  • Get lid on freezer
  • Remove all of the crap in the way of the wall mounted tap box
  • Build insulated tap box with room for 6 taps
  • Run PVC to tap box from collar
  • Insulate PVC runs
  • Install fan to push (or pull, haven't decided) air from/to freezer - turn on later
  • Figure the final size of the box, order acrylic sheet for back
  • Install back of box
  • Test, drink, test, fix problems

This is an awesome set up you have. Just wanted to thank you by the way. I am the guy you sent the homebrew magazines to over in Afghanistan. They helped me kill alot of time and I actually found a few other homebrewers from Aulstrailia on my way out that I gave them to. You have no idea how much I appreciated that. Thanks again and enjoy your brewhouse, you guys deserve it.

I am so glad those magazines helped pass the time. It is good to hear from you. I wish you the best!

In bar related news, my new faucets arrived today. Sold my creamers and bought five of the new 630SS.

Today was one of my Fridays off, so I made some good headway on the "pouring beer through the wall" concept.

Started this morning with a bunch of mechanical in my way (I didn't take a true before picture, but it was this plus 6 Ethernet cables and a few phone lines.)

Cleaned everything up by moving all of the electrical and plumbing:

Built the substructure of the box that will house the taps and mounted that to the studs. The superstructure is also built, but not installed. Due to very tight space requirements, I need to install it after I get my polycarbonate back plate here. Ordered that today.
That tiny little white spec in the right area is where the shank height will be.

I silconed all of the joints in the substructure and put in some rigid insulation between the studs.

Used some Liquid Nails on the 4" PVC pipes coming out of the freezer. I'm letting that dry before I attach anything vertical.

Wired the Love TS2 up, but lost the temperature sensor somewhere in the basement... So it's still running on a Ranco at the moment.

So that's all the progress for now. Once the polycarbonate sheet gets here, I can press on with the box. In the meantime, I'll be building more dual stage temp controllers for my little wine coolers. Single stage is what I have on most of them now, and that needs to change with the constant 64F basement temps.

Thanks Tom!

So the official date for the housewarming party is set for late April, which I had given up on getting the bar finished by then already. But as is tradition, the homebrew club came through with a ton of motivation and help!  ;D

To do list for the bar/tap build is now:
  • Flooring is being picked up tomorrow - club member is a wholesale distributor. BOOM.
  • Great friend and other club member is doing custom cabinets for the bar at near cost. Double boom.
  • Run PVC to tap box from collar
  • Insulate PVC runs
  • Rip out downstairs toilet and vanity
  • Paint
  • Install fan to push (or pull, haven't decided) air from/to freezer
  • Install back of box
  • Lay floor
  • Install new toilet and vanity
  • Paint trim and hang new doors

Wish me luck! I have less than four weeks to finish the rip out and build it all back up.

Best of luck!

I'd say your afternoons and weekends will be spoken for with this build!

This is turning into more of a bar build than anything directly homebrew related, but I'll post anyway.

Made a lot of progress last night, but forgot to take pictures, so pics from  Friday will have to do. Trimmed the walls on Friday, painted on Sunday evening. Pic is from Friday.

Bathroom, before (hole is from a hideaway ironing board):

Bathroom on Friday:

Mudded and taped the hole up last night.

Tonight is an off night, gotta lead a BJCP class upstairs for our tasting exam in May.

More progress later...

I threw together a schedule over lunch so I know exactly what my critical path is for the project. Substantial completion is on target for 4/18.

I also mocked up the final tap spacing. It'll work out to be 5 taps initially, 3 on one side and 2 on the other. Then add a 6th tap for nitro.

If we ever get a wild hair and want 4 more taps (10 total), then there is spacing to do that without moving any existing taps - just by sliding the future taps down 2" and centered between existing taps.

I'll post the cross section view of the taps if I remember when I get home.
