No kidding . I'm pretty sure it's gonna beat my makeshift garage 'pub' - lawn chairs, cheap stereo and a tv around the kegerator. Could be worse!  I can't wait to see this build though. Looks pretty serious.

Oh hey Tim! Good to see you on here! Hoosier, some of my favorite places to drink involve standing in a basement, around a floor drain, and in front of the kegerator. :D

And no, I cannot build another... I am so worn out with my own project! :) But after living for years in apartments with a brewery, it's pretty clear that this has been stewing for a while! Haha.

Progress tonight: ripped out toilet, moved the washer and dryer out of the bathroom/laundry room, continued sanding on my sad attempt at mudding and taping drywall, built a bit more of the remote tap box, and drilled the first five holes in the wall for taps.

Phew!

Pics:
Superstructure of remote tap box. Basically 2x4s and polycarbonate. Still need to buy the all thread studs (have 1' rods, but it is impossible to cut with hand tools) and weatherstripping.

Love me a hole saw... Taps as shown on the previous drawing.

Toilet and laundry gone. Half painted. Have a new toilet on order and still need to pick out a vanity. I have a sneaking suspicion that the part I'm attempting to mud/tape over will need a beer tin over top of it. ;)

I have half of the main room painted. Once it is all painted, then the floors go in. Then the cabinets.

Speaking of, cabinets will be here tomorrow. Staining will start on Thursday. I cannot say enough good things about my great friend who is making them, Michael Crane. He's awesome. Just awesome. He's totally the reason I'm even motivated to tackle this project.

One more thing for (potential) future reference. The tap cross section I mentioned earlier. This is probably the 4th or 5th design and will be the final design.

Wow.  This looks so awesome.  But what are you going to do with all your time when this is done?

Thanks!

I'd like to think that I'll brew more and drink while sitting in lawn chairs more... but those will probably be famous last words if I commit to that! Like the title of the thread, "there's always a project".  ::)

Awesome set up.  I particularly liked your shelving storage and organization.  I could definitely use that to get equipment and supplies off the ground and organized in my garage.

I know that basement.

Yep! :D

Made a ton of progress in the past few days. Cliff notes:

Roughed in the PVC piping for the beer lines and cooling air.

We also got all of the new flooring laid and the cabinets are here! Doors are being stained now and will be installed soon. I need to pick out a top and get the taps installed, but they hinge off of the top being picked out. Tomorrow, maybe.

We've gotten far enough to be able to move the laundry back into its proper home. Woo laundry!! Haha.

Really exciting progress here: we have a toilet back!

We also got the box structure built and the PVC glued into it's final location. It's a tight fit with the air duct up top, but it'll do. I added some weather stripping but still need to make the box airtight. Crappy cell phone picture (promise I'll take proper pictures at the end, uploading from the phone via Tapatalk is just too easy):

Did some beer related work tonight. Finished sealing up the box with that aluminum duct tape. Also wrapped the beer and air lines with Reflectix.

Close up of the inside of the box.

I also received the new drip tray / glass rinser combo. This thing is a beast. It's still in the protective packaging, but you can see the glass rinser in the middle. That works perfectly for my situation since there are two studs smack in the middle of the tap box behind the wall. Almost looks like I planned this... ;)

Custom countertop has been designed and will be fabricated soon. Once I get that in place, I can mount the drip tray, get the metal plate on the wall for the "tap back splash", install the shanks/taps/lines and pour beer!

Nice work so far. The taps through the wall part of the project is something I'm working on right now in my basement, so thanks for sharing. Where did you find the drip tray/rinser combo?

Thanks!

I bought the drip tray / rinser combo directly from Micromatic.

This is an awesome home build. Makes me look forward to buying a house. What's gonna happen to your souring room? Just curious
