2014 World Beer Cup - Missing result?
« on: April 16, 2014, 07:20:37 pm »
I was reading the list of winners for this year's World Beer Cup and noticed there was not a Gold listing for this year's Category 59... Was this a mistake, or was there really no Gold prize?

Quote
Category 59: Belgian-Style Flanders Oud Bruin or Oud Red Ale, 28 Entries
Silver: Oude Tart, The Bruery, Anaheim, CA
Bronze: Shadows of Their Eyes, The Rare Barrel, Berkeley, CA

sometimes there is no great example of the style entered.
I recall seeing it in GABF several times, often with American interpretations of English styles.

The judges discretion. None that are worthy.

If you look at the NHC, there are a few with no Bronze as none were good enough to make the 30 cutoff. Sort of the same deal for bronze, but there is a stated point cutoff.
