I was going through my malt stores tonight weighing bags of grain and had a thought. Whenever I open one of my grain buckets, I get an explosion of grain aroma.  Will storing multiple types of grains in the same bin or bucket cause some grains to take on the aromatics of other grains? I feel like this is a really dumb question, but I was curious being a newer brewer. I do store all my grains in bags, mostly Ziploc and they are all un-milled. I just don't want my munich 10 to suddenly start tasting like pilsner or C-80. I tried a search on the topic but most all I got was storage tips.

Any ideas?

Thanks

All of my grains are in individual ziplocks or twist-tied plastic bags, then contained in a large rubbermaid storage container.  No problem.

Very good. After going through my 20 some odd bags of grains, I think I'm going to have to finally break down and get a copy of beersmith or some form of inventory tracking software. It's somewhat of a pain dragging out all my grain everything I want to brew to see if I have enough on hand. ;)

i put some most grains in the large plastic jars that pretzles  come in. some of them are big and i can put small bags of specialty grains in plastic closed bags inside the same jar.
