My water numbers are below. Trying to figure out how to make these numbers work for darker beers, it looks like IPA's will be ok though... any recommendations or advice would be most welcome :)

here's mine , i live in a small town in the sandhills of nebraska. i think we have the softest water you can get. ward labs did the testing

I was wondering why my Pale Ales and IPA's were tasting soapy so, I sent a sample off to Ward Labs and sure nuff....way low in sulfate for PA's and IPA's. Just received 5#'s of Gypsum from Northern Brewer. Great water for Porters and stouts as is. It's really pretty close to London.:

Keep in mind that Martin pointed out that you need to multiply your sulfate number x3 in a Ward report.

I get my water from two lakes. It has varied a bit over the years, but has always made for great brewing water.

These are old DNR numbers the city water guy was able to get me.

Calcium - 73 mg/l is the average from the Wells
Magnesium - 41 mg/l is the average from the Wells
Sodium - 11 mg/l
Chloride - 26 mg/l
Sulfate - 46 mg/l
Bicabonate Hardness 399 ppm
You can do things two ways, the right way or the wrong way.
Or you can do things my way - which is like the wrong way but faster.
